On leaving Poland we want to say goodbye to Woytek and Fulba and all the people that we met at the Kalafior (we are really sorry we didn't find the chance to go back to Olkush!); to Pawel -the guardian of democracy- and to Julia -the girl with the most beautiful voice we have ever heard; to Aldona and Tadeus; to Klaus, the psychologist of the wild; to Mr J. (thanks for the Muniaka-pictures again!); to Zbignien, with whom we had our worst after-vodka headache; and once again to Tomek and Areta, to Gabrisha, Matheus, Kika and Kitka. We miss you so much!
This being said i'll try to resume our trip so far; we left Krakow and went to the Bieszczady, a marvellous corner of open people and amazing landscapes that we found covered by a beautiful blanket of white clean snow.
From there we headed south, crossed Slovaquia through the worst snow-storm you can think of, arrived in Viena -suddenly back into the richest part of Europe; south again to Ljubljana in Slovenia where we found Bled and a Castle and an underground path towards the center of the earth -though we only went around 200 meters under the surface.
Then, always southward, Trieste and the Adriatic Sea and then Venecia, with the beginning of the Carnival and a Corto Maltese fable blurred around the channels.
From the Swiss Sambistas to the gondola trip around Santa Maria dei Miracoli; S. Bartolome by night and the winged lion of S. Marcos; too many stories to be resumed here. Be patient.
From Venecia to Ferrara, the medieval town, and then the ss-16 Adriatica; Rimini, the Gargano National Park, Otranto, Castaglione, Crotone, Reggio de Calabria. From there to Sicily; Messina, Catania, Siracusa -where we found Etore, Franco and 'Patela' (thanks for the beautiful tour!!); the port of Pozzalo and then Malta.
That is where we are now, Malta! Right now in Sliema, very close to Valetta, where we plan to stay for a week before cruising around the island and then head towards Gozo, which in a way is the end of our trip. We expect though to visit Sicily slowly on our way back (this island was quite an unexpected discovery!).
And so this is it for now. I would love to include so many stories in here but then it would become a novel rather than a blog. So, no matter what, rejoice.
Take care.
(p.s. i'm sorry we cannot get any picture through; we will post them -for we have some beautiful images- as soon as we find a place that allows us to do so).
